About Maison Assay
Who we are
Maison Assay is an independent editorial site covering fine jewelry and diamonds. We read makers' own product pages, compare features and pricing, and publish honest reviews with no sponsored rankings.
What we cover
Maison Assay covers the decisions people make before buying a diamond or a ring: whether a cut label means what it implies, what a certificate does and does not state, what a return window really covers, and what the same specification costs at different retailers.
- Diamonds and certificates, what each lab report states, and what listings add to it
- Engagement rings, settings, shapes and the price of the whole ring
- Retailers and policies, returns, resizing, trade-in and what each promises in writing
- Lab-grown and natural, price gaps and claims, with no verdict on which to buy
Our methodology
Every product on Maison Assay is evaluated across a consistent set of criteria: the price of a stated stone specification on the retailer's own page, what the lab certificate says against what the listing says, the retailer's own return, resizing and trade-in policy, and the wording of each claim set against the FTC Jewelry Guides. We maintain a strict separation between editorial content and affiliate relationships, our rankings are never influenced by commission rates.
How we make money
Maison Assay is free to read. We earn revenue through affiliate links, when you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. For full details, see our affiliate disclosure.
