Whiteflash return policy and Lifetime Trade-Up: three guarantees, read clause by clause

Whiteflash's own pages, read on 23 October 2026: the money-back window is 30 or 10 days by product line, the clock never pauses, and the trade-up covers only one of its stone lines.

On 23 October 2026, Whiteflash's own pages described three different guarantees under one banner: a 30-day money-back for A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection natural diamonds, 10 days for lab-created and other certified stones, and a Lifetime Trade-Up that names only A CUT ABOVE diamonds and excludes Expert Selection and lab-created stones.

Read from Whiteflash's FAQ, money-back guarantee, Lifetime Trade-Up and policies pages on 23 October 2026; each is linked in the text.

What is Whiteflash's return policy?

It depends on which stone or setting you buy. Its money-back guarantee page gives 30 days for natural diamonds from its A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection lines and for regular catalogue settings and jewelry, and 10 days for lab-created diamonds, for all other certified diamonds, and for catalogue jewelry made with lab-created diamonds. The same page calls it a "no questions asked" guarantee and, in the next lines, says it is not a try-on policy.

In short:

  1. Two windows: 30 days for A CUT ABOVE, Expert Selection and regular catalogue items; 10 days for lab-created and other certified stones.
  2. The clock starts at readiness, not at your door: the day the item arrives at the FedEx hold location or is ready for in-store pickup, and it does not pause or reset.
  3. Refund: within 10 business days of verification, the full price minus applicable return shipping fees, by card credit or company check.
  4. Lifetime Trade-Up: for A CUT ABOVE diamonds only, toward another single A CUT ABOVE diamond of at least 50% greater value.

Which stones does each guarantee actually name?

The three guarantees do not cover the same stones, and two of Whiteflash's own pages word the 30-day group differently. Its FAQ answer lists A CUT ABOVE, Expert Selection and Premium Select as the branded natural lines with a 30-day guarantee. The guarantee page says the 30-day group is natural certified diamonds "specifically" from A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection, and does not name Premium Select. We report both and do not decide between them: if you are buying a Premium Select stone, ask which page governs before you rely on either.

The Lifetime Trade-Up page narrows it further. It says any A CUT ABOVE diamond qualifies, and that diamonds in the Expert Selection category, the Other Diamonds category, lab-created diamonds and other diamonds sourced for customers are not included. So an Expert Selection stone has a 30-day return and no trade-up, according to those two pages.

When does the Whiteflash return clock start, and can it pause?

The guarantee page says the return period begins on the date the item arrives at your FedEx hold location, on the first day it is ready for in-store pickup, on the first day it would have been delivered if you asked for delayed delivery, or on the first day it could have been delivered but was delayed on your part for any reason. It then adds that, once begun, the period does not pause or reset for any reason, and that returns must be postmarked by the last day. The older five-jeweler comparison had Whiteflash's start point as not captured; this page fills it from the guarantee text.

The process is short on paper: you ask for a return authorization, ship the item back, Whiteflash inspects it, and a refund follows within 10 business days of verification. The page says the refund is the full purchase price minus any applicable return shipping fees, paid by card credit or by company check depending on how you paid. International customers are told to contact customer service, and duties or customs fees on the way back are theirs.

Read from the guarantee page. A non-branded diamond that is part of an order not due within the 10-day inspection period can be delivered loose for inspection first, or the buyer can waive the inspection period; the page offers both.

What does the money-back guarantee exclude or charge for?

The same page excludes jewelry modified to customer specifications other than normal sizing or engraving, non-catalogue special orders, and full eternity rings. Engraving charges, setting fees and shipping upgrades are non-refundable once the order is placed, and returning an engraved item costs a $25 removal fee deducted from the refund. For comparison, Brilliant Earth's returns page states a $40 engraving removal charge.

A diamond acquired through the trade-up program is not eligible for money back, though it keeps the trade-up benefit. The page also reserves the right to withdraw or alter the policy on any item before an order is fulfilled.

What does the Lifetime Trade-Up promise, and what does it cost to use?

The programme's name appears two ways: the policies hub calls it a "Lifetime 100% Trade-up Guaranty", and the programme page states its terms. Those terms: you may trade a qualifying A CUT ABOVE diamond at any time for any other single A CUT ABOVE diamond of at least 50% greater value. Credit is the full purchase price of the original, or that price normalized to the current market, less the original shipping. Any discount applied to the original order is taken off the credit, shipping and insurance to send the original in are the customer's, and the page reserves the right to adjust the upgrade value after a significant drop in the market value of natural diamonds.

The page does not define "value". Read as price, the rule can be worked on a stone the page itself lists. The in-stock panel on the trade-up page showed a 0.71 ct H VS1 round A CUT ABOVE at $2,275 on 23 October 2026. On that reading, the next stone would have to be worth at least $3,412.50, which is $1,137.50 more, before the shipping and discount deductions above. This is arithmetic on a listed price, not a quote, and Whiteflash's own calculation may differ.

Process terms are specific. Allow 4 weeks for lab verification and processing of the original; the original is sent to GIA, the Gemological Institute of America, to verify its condition, and its original laboratory certificate must come back with it. A buyer who takes the new diamond first must pay for it in full, the new purchase is not contingent on trade-in, and the original must arrive within 30 days of payment or no credit is given. The programme can be exercised only by the purchaser of record, Customer Loyalty credit does not apply to trade-ups, and the page ends "Program subject to change".

Keep this before you buy
Photograph the product page and the guarantee page on the day you order, and write down which line your stone falls under: A CUT ABOVE, Expert Selection, lab-created or other. The window is 30 days or 10 days depending on that line, the clock starts when the item is ready at the hold location, and the page says it never pauses. Book any independent appraisal inside the shorter window.

What does this mean for a lab-grown stone?

The lab-grown buyer has the shortest window and no trade-up, on the pages read. In this site's lab-grown price basket, the cheapest Whiteflash stone matching the spec on 23 October 2026 was a 1.1 ct round for $538, with 3 stones in total matching, and that stone falls in the 10-day group. If you want an independent appraisal, book it inside that window, because the clock does not wait. The basket spec was limited to stones with an IGI report. What the law says about the words used for such stones is in 16 CFR Part 23, and how the same jeweler words lab-grown stones is a separate question, counted in the FTC wording check, and the price against natural is in the price-gap study.

Which reader should do what?

How we compiled this

Method

On 23 October 2026 we fetched the text of four Whiteflash pages, its FAQ answer on returns, its money-back guarantee, its Lifetime Trade-Up page and its policies hub, and copied the stated numbers, windows and exclusions. We did not place an order or start a return, and we have not tested how Whiteflash applies any clause. Where two pages worded a point differently we say so and do not pick one. Where a page did not state a fact, such as resize terms, we leave it out. Policies change, so read the live page before you buy. Next review: January 2027.

FAQ

What is the Whiteflash return policy?

Whiteflash's guarantee page, read 23 October 2026, gives 30 days for natural diamonds from its A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection lines and for regular catalogue items, and 10 days for lab-created diamonds, other certified diamonds and catalogue jewelry made with lab-created diamonds. Custom or altered jewelry other than normal sizing, non-catalogue special orders and full eternity rings are not returnable.

Is the Whiteflash return window shorter for lab-grown diamonds?

Yes. Both its FAQ and its guarantee page put lab-created diamonds in the 10-day group, against 30 days for its A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection natural diamonds.

When does the Whiteflash return period start?

Per its guarantee page, on the date the item arrives at your FedEx hold location or is first ready for in-store pickup, or on the first day it could have been delivered. The page says the period does not pause or reset for any reason, and returns must be postmarked by the last day.

How long does a Whiteflash refund take, and how is it paid?

The guarantee page says a refund is issued within 10 business days of verification, for the full purchase price minus any applicable return shipping fees, by card credit or company check depending on how you paid. Engraved items have a $25 removal fee deducted.

How does the Whiteflash Lifetime Trade-Up work?

Its programme page says an A CUT ABOVE diamond can be traded at any time for another single A CUT ABOVE diamond of at least 50% greater value, with credit equal to the original purchase price (or normalized to current market) less original shipping and any order discount. Expert Selection, Other Diamonds and lab-created diamonds are not included.

Does Whiteflash say Premium Select is covered by the 30-day return?

Its FAQ lists Premium Select with A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection in the 30-day group, but its guarantee page names only A CUT ABOVE and Expert Selection. The two pages differ, so ask Whiteflash which governs before you buy a Premium Select stone.
