Brilliant Earth's own pages, read on 23 October 2026: a 30-day return that starts when the order is available to ship, free resizing headlined at a year but 60 days at any size, and an upgrade program with a different multiple for lab-grown stones.

On 23 October 2026, Brilliant Earth's returns page headlined "Free 30-Day Returns & 1-Year Resizes", while its own resizing terms give one free resize within 60 days at any size and a year only for sizes inside a ring's recommended sizing range.
Its returns page offers free 30-day returns and exchanges on items in original, unworn condition, and says the policy timelines "begin when your purchase is available for shipment or pickup", not when it arrives. Most orders can be returned or exchanged by phone; unworn US items under $1,000 can use an online portal, while items over $1,000, orders shipped outside the US, Create Your Own jewelry and engraved rings go by phone. Shipping both ways is free, and the page says full insurance applies when you use its label and follow its packaging instructions, which include double-boxing.
In short:
It depends on the ring size. The headline and the tile on the returns page say free 1-year resizes. The resizing terms then say "one complimentary resizing within 60 days regardless of sizing range, or up to 1 year if within sizing range", where each ring has "a unique sizing range that can be provided at pickup", and both clocks begin when the purchase is first available for shipment or pickup. A size outside the range is therefore covered for 60 days, not a year.
The same section adds that only Brilliant Earth rings can be resized; eternity rings and alternative metals such as tantalum or titanium cannot be resized but can be exchanged free within 60 days; and custom, modified and engraved rings can be resized within a year but are subject to resize fees. Shipping is free both ways, and after the year a resize costs a fee or goes through a separate protection plan. A resized ring cannot then be returned.
The warranty page offers "a free lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on all Brilliant Earth fine jewelry", and three years for watches. Free return labels apply in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK; elsewhere a $50 deposit is taken and refunded in full for warrantied repairs. Repair or service by a jeweler Brilliant Earth has not authorized voids it, and it excludes wear and tear, loss of gemstones, product loss and theft.
One clause goes beyond a defect warranty: the page says Brilliant Earth "will replace any damaged fine jewelry within 60 days of purchase", and outside those 60 days will replace fine jewelry pieces under $1,000 in value. We report it as written and do not know how it is applied.
Screenshot the returns page on the day you order, headline and terms together. The headline says "1-Year Resizes", and the terms give 60 days at any size and a year only for sizes inside the ring's recommended range, so ask for that range before you order. Your return authorization is good for seven days, and an item you received as an exchange cannot be returned.
Per the same page, a loose natural diamond can be exchanged for credit equivalent to the original purchase price toward a new natural diamond "of at least 1.5x greater value", and a loose lab-grown diamond toward a new lab-grown diamond "of at least 2x greater value". The diamond must come with its original documentation, such as a laboratory report from GIA or IGI, and be in saleable condition; colored gemstones, settings and jewelry are excluded; orders outside the US are excluded except Canada; the credit does not include duty or tax paid; and an upgrade purchase is final sale, though a new ring setting bought through it can be resized.
That makes Brilliant Earth one of two of the four jewelers whose upgrade terms we read that cover lab-grown stones, with Blue Nile, and the only one of them with a different multiple by stone type. Whiteflash and Ritani exclude lab-grown. As on the other pages, "value" is not defined, so the figure draws the wording, not a measured difference. All five jewelers' programs are set side by side on the upgrade programs compared page.
In this site's lab-grown price basket, the cheapest Brilliant Earth stone matching the spec on 23 October 2026 was a 1 ct round for $480, from 1,320 stones that matched; its cheapest Super Ideal in the same spec was $490. How that label relates to an IGI report is read in the Super Ideal page, and the words used for lab-grown stones are measured against 16 CFR Part 23 in the wording check. A lab-grown stone upgrades toward another lab-grown stone only, at the 2x multiple.
To set these terms beside four other jewelers, see the five-jeweler return and resize comparison.
On 23 October 2026, in a desktop browser, we read the text of Brilliant Earth's returns and resizing page and its product warranties page, and copied the stated numbers and conditions. We did not place an order, start a return or contact customer service, and we have not tested how Brilliant Earth applies any clause. Where a headline and its terms differ we say so and do not pick one. Policies change, so read the live page before you buy. Next review: January 2027.
Its returns page, read 23 October 2026, gives free 30-day returns and exchanges on unworn items, with timelines starting when the purchase is available for shipment or pickup. A return authorization number is required and is active for 7 days; refunds are processed about 5 business days after receipt.
Its headline says so, but its terms give one free resize within 60 days at any ring size, or up to one year only if the size is inside the ring's recommended sizing range. Only Brilliant Earth rings can be resized, and a resized ring cannot be returned.
A loose natural diamond can be exchanged for credit equal to the original price toward a new natural diamond of at least 1.5x greater value; a loose lab-grown diamond toward a new lab-grown diamond of at least 2x greater value. Colored gemstones, settings and jewelry are excluded, and the purchase is final sale.
A free lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on its fine jewelry, three years for watches. Its page also says it will replace damaged fine jewelry within 60 days of purchase, and pieces under $1,000 in value after that. It excludes wear and tear, lost gemstones, loss and theft.
