Ritani's own pages, read on 23 October 2026: the 30-day return clock starts at shipment, free resizing is 30 days on one page and a year on another, and the warranty has a 45-day deadline on one page and none on another.

On 23 October 2026, Ritani's own pages disagreed with each other on two terms: free resizing is 30 days on its engagement ring page and one year in its FAQ, and its warranty page gives 45 days to activate the warranty (void if not registered) while its FAQ says it can be activated at any time.
Ritani's returns page says it accepts returns and exchanges for eligible US orders within 30 days of shipment from its facility, with a prepaid, insured FedEx label, and that returns received after the window are not accepted. The FAQ gives the same 30 days but does not say when the clock starts. The returns page adds that once a label is issued the package must be scanned by FedEx within 7 days, that shipping charges are non-refundable, and that customers get two complimentary returns per calendar year. The FAQ words the cap as two returns or exchanges "per customer, per year".
In short:
Both, depending on the page. The engagement ring collection page answers "what if the engagement ring doesn't fit" with complimentary resizing within 30 days of purchase. The FAQ says engagement and wedding rings, excluding eternity bands and alternative metals, may be resized once for free within the first year of purchase, with shipping covered both ways in the US and Canada. The collection page also says "one free ring sizing after purchase" without a window. We report all three and do not decide which governs.
The FAQ is also not consistent inside itself on which metals are excluded. Its ring-sizing answer lists cobalt, titanium and palladium as alternative metals; its wedding-ring answer lists cobalt, titanium, tungsten and palladium. Fashion rings cannot be resized, per the FAQ, which advises checking the fit inside the 30-day return period. Free sizing at a Ritani-authorized dealer is allowed only for changes within a quarter size up or down, and only if arranged through customer service.
The warranty page says: "You have 45 days from the time of purchase to activate your warranty", and lists not having registered the warranty on Ritani.com among the things that void it. The FAQ says the opposite in practice: "we recommend that it be activated within 45 days, you are able to activate it at any time". If you register on day 60, the two pages give different answers about your cover.
The warranty page also says the free lifetime warranty applies to Ritani-label engagement rings and wedding bands only, not to the designer collections Ritani carries. The FAQ says engagement rings and wedding rings are covered and jewelry is not, and does not mention that carve-out. Both pages say work by anyone other than Ritani or an approved location voids the warranty. For wear and accidental damage the FAQ points to a separate JM Care Plan, which it says is "not insurance" and is offered by a member of the Jewelers Mutual Group. The warranty page lists complimentary ring cleaning for life with a one-way $35 shipping fee, and complimentary rhodium plating once a year with shipping paid by the customer.
Screenshot the FAQ, the returns page and the warranty page on the day you order. Ritani's own pages disagree on how long free resizing lasts and on whether warranty activation has a deadline, so assume the shorter one: resize inside 30 days and register the warranty inside 45 days, then ask customer service which page governs and keep the answer in writing.
Per its FAQ, any natural Ritani diamond bought on ritani.com after 11 October 2012 is eligible, provided it is certified by GIA or AGSL, for an upgrade to a diamond "at least 3.5x greater in value", with credit equal to 100% of the original value. Lab-grown diamonds cannot be upgraded, and the qualifications were last updated in November 2024. Its separate buy-back page says it takes back diamonds of at least 1 carat with a clarity of SI2 or better and a colour of K or better, GIA certified, with lab-grown excluded, for cash or Ritani credit.
For scale, Whiteflash words its trade-up as "at least 50% greater value" on an A CUT ABOVE stone, as read on its own page. The two are not like-for-like, since neither page defines "value", and "3.5x greater in value" can be read as 3.5 times the original; the figure draws the words as written. All five jewelers' programs are set side by side on the upgrade programs compared page.
On orders of $1,500 or more, the preview page says you can choose "Free Preview with a Diamond Pro" at checkout and pick a nearby location. Payment is not processed; a temporary authorization hold is placed on the card, like a hotel reservation. Once the order ships to the Diamond Pro, they contact you within 48 hours to arrange the preview; if you keep it the payment processes, and if you walk away the hold is released with no fee.
Five numbers, three of them in conflict. The return window is 30 days from shipment, the label must be scanned within 7 days, the warranty has a 45-day activation window on one page, and free resizing is 30 days on one page and a year on another.
Lab-grown stones are excluded from the upgrade and from buy-back, per the pages above. In this site's lab-grown price basket, the cheapest Ritani stone matching the spec on 23 October 2026 was a 1.01 ct round for $240. Ritani's FAQ calls lab-grown diamonds "100% real", a wording measured against 16 CFR Part 23, and says they can be "up to 30% less expensive"; the price-gap study measured lab-grown per-carat prices at 11% to 28% of the cheapest natural stone across five jewelers on one spec. How jewelers word these claims is counted in the FTC wording check.
To set these terms beside four other jewelers, see the five-jeweler return and resize comparison, and for the one closest in structure, the Whiteflash policy read.
On 23 October 2026, in a desktop browser, we read the text of six Ritani pages: its FAQ, returns and exchanges, warranty, free in-person preview, diamond buy-back program and engagement ring collection pages, and copied the stated numbers and conditions. We did not place an order, start a return or contact customer service, and we have not tested how Ritani applies any clause. Where two pages differ we say so and do not pick one. Where a page did not state a fact we say it was silent. Policies change, so read the live page before you buy. Next review: January 2027.
Ritani's returns page, read 23 October 2026, accepts returns and exchanges for eligible US orders within 30 days of shipment from its facility, using a prepaid insured FedEx label that must be scanned within 7 days of issue. Customers get two complimentary returns per year, shipping charges are non-refundable, and refunds can take up to 2 weeks after receipt.
Its pages differ. The engagement ring collection page says complimentary resizing within 30 days of purchase; its FAQ says engagement and wedding rings, excluding eternity bands and alternative metals, may be resized once for free within the first year. Ask Ritani which applies before you rely on either.
Its warranty page says you have 45 days from purchase to activate it and lists not registering among things that void it. Its FAQ says activation within 45 days is recommended but can be done at any time. The pages differ, so register inside 45 days and ask customer service which governs.
Per its returns page, the 30 days run from shipment out of Ritani's facility, not from delivery. Its FAQ gives 30 days without stating a start point.
No. Its FAQ says lab-grown diamonds cannot be upgraded, and its buy-back page says lab-grown stones are not applicable. The upgrade covers natural Ritani diamonds bought on ritani.com after 11 October 2012 that are certified by GIA or AGSL, toward a diamond at least 3.5x greater in value.
Yes, on orders of $1,500 or more. Its preview page says payment is not processed, only a temporary card authorization hold is placed, and a Diamond Pro contacts you within 48 hours of the order shipping to arrange the preview; you can keep the piece or walk away with no fee.
